Responsibilities:

  1. • Teaching all areas of the elementary curriculum.
  2. • Taking responsibility for the progress of a class of elementary age students Grades 1 to 5
  3. • Organizing the classroom and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment.
  4. • Planning, preparing and presenting differentiated lessons that cater the needs of the whole ability range within their class.
  5. • Motivating students with enthusiastic, imaginative class activities.
  6. • Preparing, marking and providing feedback to facilitate positive student development.

DAAPS seeks an experienced, dynamic School Counselor. The ideal candidate will support our school’s mission, goals, and vision; value community; bring a spirit of enthusiasm, energy, and willingness to take thoughtful initiative in a collaborative setting.

Objective:

  1. • To maximize each student’s potential through the implementation of a comprehensive program that fosters the competencies leading to lifelong success including personal, social growth, academic skills. Primary Responsibilities
  2. • Establish a proactive, counseling program that actively involves students, teachers and parents
  3. • Develop, document and implement counseling curriculum
  4. • Provide direct support services for students, teachers and parents including individual, small and large group meetings/conferences
  5. • Oversee student learning support services for students, teachers and parents from KG to Grade 12. This involves handling referrals from teachers; coordinating Student Review Team meetings; recommending and facilitating educational or psychological testing; recommending possible classroom modifications where appropriate, and maintaining communication with students, teachers and parents throughout any referral process
  6. • Provide transitional programs for students, parents and faculty
